Recently, I stumbled upon a collections entry on my credit profile attributed to Convergent Outsourcing for a Verizon Wireless account I have no recollection of opening. What's perplexing is the timeline – the account allegedly opened on 05/22 and was sent to collections on 07/15, a surprisingly short period. I promptly initiated a dispute with Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax. Experian and TransUnion acknowledged the discrepancy, removing the entry, but Equifax is adamant about its accuracy. Despite the relatively small amount of $87, Equifax maintains the collections account's accuracy. I've sought legal assistance and found potential lawyers through this https://www.qdexx.com/US/MS/Gulfport/Lawyers/US-MS-Gulfport-Dulin-and-Dulin-LTD/. Has anyone else faced a similar situation with Equifax, and what could be the reason for their reluctance to acknowledge the discrepancy?
